Berthe Morisot: Woman Impressionist, exhibition

18/06/2019 - 22/09/2019

The shadowy figure.

One of the leaders of impressionism, Berthe Morisot, remains less known today than her friends Monet, Degas or Renoir. And yet she had been immediately recognised as one of the most innovative artists in the group.
The exhibition follows the exceptional story of a painter who, going against the customs of her period and background, became a pivotal figure of the Parisian avant-garde from the end of the 1860s until her early death in 1895.
Modern subjects and a fast style are therefore related with the temporality of representation, and the artist unwaveringly took on the ephemeral and the passing of time.
