Buttes Chaumont park

This park in the 19th arrondissement in Paris is quite unlike any other city park. It is spread over several very steep hills, which gives you the most wonderful views over the trees and grass, and over the Parisian rooftops.
The Buttes-Chaumont Park was created in 1867 during the Universal Exhibition on an impulse of Napoleon III who was very keen on gardens.
Climb to the top of the hill in the middle and you will find a charming neoclassical folly perching there.

This looks over the pretty lake at the lower side of the park, which you can walk around, and wander across the little bridge.

In summer, this park is a favourite spot among Parisians; with its large sloping lawns, it's just made for sunbathing and picnicking! As night falls, the tapas restaurant located within the park on the south side begins to fill up with a young crowd who come to enjoy the sunset from the top of the hill and dance to the music at this lively bar.
