The Museum of Decorative Arts (Les Arts Décoratifs)
Far from being a dusty institution, the Museum of Decorative Arts, or Musée des Arts Décoratifs is a dynamic force within the arts. It has however remained true to its original vocation, to pursue a multi-faceted mission of conservation of collections and of cultural diffusion, artistic education and training for professionals, supporting creativity. In this way, the Museum of Decorative Arts regroups several componants over multiple sites (the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Nissim de Camondo Museum, the library, the Ecole Camondo and the Ateliers du Carrousel). The institution has therefore adopted the name MAD.
This new acronym stands for "Musée des Arts Décoratifs" but also for "Mode, Arts, Design" ("fashion, arts design").
Exhibitions, workshops and guided tours are organised, all with one common thread: a passion for the object.
